Materials Director

My client, a leading multinational in the Cork region are looking to recruit a Materials Director. This position will be reporting to the Sr. Director of World Wide Planning and Materials. The role will encapsulate all aspects of Cork Materials Operations, including Procurement, Production Planning, Inventory Management, and SAP enhancements for all products built within the Cork Facility. This role will have responsibility for on-time delivery of materials to the plant, maintaining proper inventory levels, and all budgets and cost management associated with Operations. This role will involve leading a large organization where communication and people management skills are essential.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

Provide cross functional leadership & general operations management for CMO.
Interface with Operation Support functions such as Engineering, Manufacturing, World Wide Planning, Customer Operations, NPI, HR, Finance, GEM, COEs
Consistently deliver world class TCE to our Customers & Partners in area such as: on-time delivery of orders, escalation management, cost and quality management, and support of Customer Service parts replacements.
Proactively support growth through: World Class Material Strategies Planning, Resource Management, Outsourcing, Productivity Enhancements, and hubbing strategies

Advance Operations capabilities through focused efforts on SAP optimisation, Business Intelligence Opportunities, and standard process execution
Align with GPO/Corporate Strategy and effectively communicate strategy & tactics
Foster a "change inviting" culture leveraging Innovation and Operational Excellence
Deliver World Class Services with a relentless focus on Quality
Manage Headcount & Expense targets
Work globally to leverage best practice and common global approach
Foster a spirit of cooroberation & collaboration with the other GPO Manufacturing sites
Continually assess & shape the organization to meet evolving business needs
On-going attention to workforce development, organisation talent and succession planning
Drive a Great Place to Work Culture
Motivate and develop the team to enable delivery of these goals

Key Skills

Master / Bachelor's degree with 10+ years' Materials Management experience.
5+years of SAP experience a must
Ability to work effectively with senior management both within GPO worldwide and Ireland COE
Sense of urgency and ability to deal with multiple tasks at the same time
Proven ability to lead, motivate and influence large workgroups
Proven ability to lead change management programs
Global thinking and strong cultural awareness
Strong relationship management and customer focus
Ability to make complex decisions within a Supply Chain context
Strategic planning abilities
Have an ability to work to tight deadlines and handle multiple issues simultaneously
Recognizes the need for change in the business and adapts appropriately
Proven ability to create and sustain high performance teams
Direct experience in multiple aspects of the business would be strongly desirable.
