My client, a leading multinational company in Cork are looking to recruit Engineer's with Backup and Storage experience.
Responsibilities
* Enterprise monitoring and triage support for a wide variety of internal and customer facing IT systems, services, and applications.
* Includes coordination of notifications, escalations, and communications to IT service owners and management for major incidents and service outages.
* Tier 1+ operations support to maintain electronic data backup and recovery systems for servers, desktops, and laptops. Our IT engineers can expect to work with cutting edge technology in a large, fast-paced, and dynamic environment that spans the globe.
* Use of a wide variety of point monitoring tools and procedures to identify, triage, and escalate IT service degradation or outages.
* Configuration of backup policies on enterprise backup systems.
* Monitoring status of backups on a daily basis and troubleshooting common and complex client backup failures.
* Interfacing with vendors, other IT admins, and end-users as necessary to resolve.
* Configuration of backup policies on enterprise backup systems.
* Perform data restores using a myriad of data protection technologies such as tape backups, snapshots, replication systems, etc.
* Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve tape hardware problems relating to enterprise backups and coordinate replacement of defective components when necessary.
Basic Qualifications
* Knowledge of common concepts and protocols like TELNET, SMTP, SSH, FTP, DNS, RAID.
* Familiar with MS Office 2007/2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Exceptional customer service orientation.
* Cover phones for escalations
* Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
* Good technical documentation skills (knowledge management).
* Experience with as many of these tools and technologies preferred: Symantec Netbackup Enterprise Server, Puredisk, HP/Autonomy Connected Backup, Data Domain, NAS devices such as Netapp/Isilon/Oracle Fishworks, Qlogic fibre channel switches, SAN fabric/topology, Oracle (StorageTek) tape libraries (SL8500/SL500/SL150), ACSLS, Spectra Logic tape libraries, LTO tape, Perl or shell scripting, MS Exchange architecture, VMware Vcenter backups, Oracle RMAN, SQL, Aptare StorageConsole, Crossroads RVA.
