Role responsibility
The successful candidate will be responsible for existing systems and actively driving the design, development and maintenance of these solutions.
With a primary focus on systems supporting the Assets and Trading divisions of Bord Gáis Energy, this role provides an opportunity for a strong technical analyst to learn more about an exciting, and rapidly expanding, area of the energy business.
Key accountabilities
1. Provide operational support for a variety of business critical systems.
2. Liaise with the Solutions Architect to define and build appropriate solutions to meet business requirements.
3. Analyse existing systems, identify areas for improvement and troubleshoot issues.
4. Develop, maintain and execute system and unit test scripts.
5. Participate in and contribute to the identification of information technologies, which assist the functional business units in meeting their strategic objectives.
6. Understand the business and keep abreast of industry developments.
7. Ad-here to IT development, service management and solution delivery procedures and standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Experience in some of the following market areas would be an advantage: energy and utilities, telecoms, public sector, finance.
Relevant third-level qualification in Computer Science or related field.
At least 5 years’ experience working as an IT analyst/programmer.
