DBA_ Progress

Position: Database Administrator - Progress
Location: Cork

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This person will assist in database administration and support of a large complex Custody and Brokerage System. The candidate must have proven working experience in supporting of the large enterprise applications.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Opendge Skills (10.2B):
- familiar with industries best strategies on DB dump/load, disaster recovery procedures, index rebuilding options, backup/restore and DB optimization
- experience with progress database migrations and conversions
- experience with OpenEdge application server and web speed management
- experience with OpenEdge Management and OpenEdge Explorer
- experience with OpenEdge replication
- experience with Sonic MQ and Sonic ESB (advantage)

* Other skills:
- basic knowledge of Unix, Linux and Windows administration
- basic knowledge of apache httpd server (advantage)
- should understand unix / windows scripts and be able to develop new scripts
- basic knowledge of Subversion
* Design software solutions for business problems related to accessing, loading, storing, distributing, and reporting, financial services market data.
* Responsible for development, implementation, and support of agreed solutions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or foreign equivalent.
* Requires 8 years experience in Software development to include Progress / Open Edge software development in the financial services industry including exposure to market data and experience with Database modeling and Progress 4GL.
Experience required to include Progress Sonic MQ or IBM Websphere MQ.
