Responsibilities:
Maintain critical production database environments.
General DBA duties include administering server hardware and operating system, designing and deploying new environments, performing server/client upgrades, managing backups, restores, and disaster recovery, and resolving database-related issues.
Partner with various DBA and development teams to create best use-cases and practices for build automation and release systems.
Other duties include server, storage, and database monitoring, performance trend analysis, monitoring customization, and on-going strategic engagements for growth.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS, Windows Server Failover Clustering, Microsoft SQL Server, and server hardware platforms are required. Experience with Linux, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Dell/Quest monitoring tools, and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager are a bonus. The ideal candidate will also participate in on-call rotation and be flexible for off-hours maintenance and upgrades in an exciting and high-paced global installation base.
Skills/Experience
Computer Science degree or equivalent 5+ years IT industry experience
5+ years experience in server/database administration
Experience with installation, configuration, and upgrade of Microsoft SQL Server 2008-2012 in
Strong Windows Server Failover Clustering experience
Hands-on experience managing server hardware, especially blades and blade enclosures
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database mirroring, log shipping, and replication
Experience in SQL Server and Windows performance tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools and disaster recovery options for Microsoft SQL Server
Proficient scripting skills with Powershell, shell, and T-SQL
Exposure to additional DBMS (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
