Senior Project Manager (Lead)

Title: Lead Project Manager
Salary: Negotiable

This is a brand new role with an energy based organisation in Dublin South; they are looking for a lead project manager who will report to the Head of IT Programmes. The successful candidate will lead a team of between 6-10 project managers across a number of different programmes and projects.

Responsibilities:

* Ensure that the projects under management by their team are delivered to cost, time and quality requirements.
* Performance of peer reviews and quality assessment
* Staff management
* Identify areas of individual expertise and professional and personal development requirements for each of their team members for the purposes of planning future assignments.
* Carry out formal objective setting, personal development planning, mid-year and end of year performance reviews in line with group standards and timetable.
* Act as first point of contact
* Induction of contract project managers
* Provide advice and assistance to team members in project execution matters
* Work to continuously improve the Project & Programme Management process and their supporting tools.
* Identify and act on opportunities to improve the capability and efficiency of the Projects and Programme Management group.
* Delivers Programmes or multiple projects with an IT enabling component.
* Overall responsibility for the delivery of the programme/projects to quality, cost and time for significant sized projects exhibiting one or more complexity factors.
* Defines scope and plan spanning the full programme/project lifecycle.

* Convenes appropriate governance to best enable programme delivery within tolerances and subsequent benefits realisation.
* Secure appropriate skilled resources in line with the resource plan from various sources, both internal and external.
* Work with Procurement and Commercial to define and manage contractual relationships with 3rd party goods and services providers
* Responsible for the project budget and financial management to ensure delivery within the cost parameters set out in the supporting business case.
* Maintain and inform project benefits, as set out in the business case.
* Reviews and approves (sub)project plans for conformance to programme strategy and programme plan and schedule
* Monitors and reports the programme/projects’ overall progress and scheduled project work products, deliverables and milestones; resolves any issues and instigates corrective action as appropriate.
* Creates strategies for risk mitigation and implements a process of prospective risk management and contingency planning.
* Creates strategies for quality management and implements a process of quality assurance within the programme/project informed by any independent quality assessments and recommendations.
* Stakeholder management

Skills, Knowledge and experience:

* Ideally 7-10 years’ management experience
* Rigorous PM experience
* PRINCE2 methodology (or equivalent)
* Significant Project Management experience of delivering multiple engagements
* Experience in managing programmes or multiple projects with a simultaneous execution period.
* Practical knowledge of the project lifecycle from Opportunity Assessment through to Operate and Evaluate
* Deep expertise in one or more core project management disciplines including, but not limited to, planning and estimation, solution delivery methodologies, governance, project controls, financial management, commercial management, release management, quality management and business change.
* Demonstrates strong scheduling, coordinating and time management skills.
* Staff motivation and the creation of a high performance environment.
* Experience of staff development ranging from trainees through to experienced professionals.
* Matrix management and the influencing of resources inside and out with a line reporting relationship.
* Experience IT processes including safety, resourcing, financial management, status reporting and risk management.
* Experience of managing multiple parties including Senior Project Managers and 3rd party independents and large vendors on high profile and technologically innovative enterprise solutions.
* Ability to manage large teams across multiple sites and create a sense of teamwork by pulling together the different members of the programme teams who may be unrelated and dissimilar and originate from different locations, directorates or companies.
* Knowledge of LCP major projects processes would be advantageous.
