Essential Duties
- Installing and upgrading the Database and ApplicationSupporting System Software and related Database tools
- Maintenance of the security of the Database and ApplicationSupporting System
- Maintenance of Database and ApplicationSupporting System users and roles.
- Creating primary database storage structures once application developers have designed/purchased an approved application.
- Allocating system storage and planning for future storage requirements for the Database and Application Supporting System systems.
- Monitoring and optimising the performance of the Database and Application Supporting System and offering assistance to developers in optimising their applications, queries, etc.
- Planning for backup and recovery of the Database and Application Supporting System.The DBA will not have responsibility for the actual physical backup or physical retention of that information.
- Liaison between KBC Bank Ireland and the Database and Application Supporting System Software Vendor for technical support, upgrades, bug fixes, etc. as necessary.
- Design, creation, and structural integrity of all database objects in the production environment that are used for business purposes. This includes tables, views, indexes, sequences, etc. from approved information given by application developers or vendors of purchased systems.
- Provide assistance, but is not responsible for the design and creation of database objects created by other developers. Any database object created in production by a developer, is considered non-official and will not be supported by the DBA.
- Batch loading of data into business production tables from approved data files, etc. given by development staff of vendors of applications. The DBA will ensure that the data loaded into tables is as accurate as the data source.The DBA is not responsible for the validity of data loaded into tables by any manual data entry process.
- Provide information and assistance in accessing database objects by other applications and tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, etc. The DBA will not be responsible for the validity of the results from these applications.
- Implementation of departmental procedures including change control and security procedures.
- Production of technical documentation to agreed quality standards.
- Managing open incidents in accordance with the operations level agreement.
- Involved in the definition of and responsible for delivering the required monitoring reports.
- Reporting to the Database Administration Team leader any issues that may be relevant.
- Ensuring a close working relationship is maintained with business usersAdherence to relevant department methodologies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislative, regulatory, audit and licensing requirements.Assisting with the production of Operations related KPIs, regular management reports and other required management and project information.
