The Role:
The Senior Systems Administrator will form part of an operational team that is responsible for the day to day support and maintenance of all computing environments. This includes responsibility for the administration of high availability, production datacentre environments working with operating systems, enterprise applications, local & wide area networks and storage systems. This is a technical post ideally requiring prior experience in operating a 24x7x365 enterprise environment.”
What you will be doing:
* Serve as a key resource on infrastructure projects assisting in the design, implementation and handover
* Provide systems support on production services to resolve issues ensuring a great customer experience
* Implement authorised systems change in accordance with standards
* Assist in the creation and maintenance of operational processes and procedures
* Participate in systems related compliance processes to ensure policies are adhered to
* Work with network engineers, database administrators, software developers and project managers on the launch of new services offerings
* Act as team member for IT Operations continual service improvement activities
* Any other responsibilities as required from time to time
What qualities you will bring:
* Experience in supporting highly available, on-line application and infrastructure services in an enterprise environment (24x7x365)
* Strong experience in administration of Linux systems (Suse or Red Hat) required
* Solid proficiency in configuration and operation of web server technologies such as Tomcat, Apache and IIS
* Hands-on experience of infrastructure and application monitoring systems such as Splunk, Nagios, Op Manager
* VMWare configuration and administration skills
* Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
* Some experience of Windows/Windows Domain Administration
* Excellent troubleshooting and technical problem resolution skills
* Demonstrate energy, effort and enthusiasm for delivery and results
* Good time management coupled with excellent communication skills
* Demonstrates strong sense of ownership in the timely resolution of issues and completion of project tasks
* Prior experience of best practice change management and change implementation processes in high availability enterprise environments
* Seek continuous improvement
* BSc in Computer science or related qualification
It helps if you also are/have:
* Linux, Microsoft, Vmware or Cisco certifications are a distinct advantage
* Strong knowledge of DNS and SMTP
* Hands-on experience of Automation of Software Deployment and Configuration Management using technologies such as Chef, Puppet
* Scripting skills in any of Bash, Perl or Python
* Experience with operational information security best practice
* Knowledge of network infrastructure - load balancers, firewalls, switches and routers
* Previous exposure to Microsoft SQL 2008 Databases
