Data Quality Analyst

Responsibilities:
* Assist in maintaining awareness of the Mission and values throughout the Hospital in relation to all Corporate Services activities.

* Support the Quality Manager in developing and maintaining best practice in the management of Quality Department service.

* Assist in reviewing and updating Policies, Procedures and Systems that support the needs of the hospital.

* Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the Values of the Hospital and maintain throughout the Hospital awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all Hospital activities.

Specific Accountability

Provide support to the Quality Manager, the key duties and responsibilities of which will include some or all of the following:

Performance Measures and Audit tools
* Help design user friendly measures/audit tools to meet department and JCI needs. The tools are designed to ensure most efficient and effective use of data, better interpretation of data through graphical design, and to maintain consistency in approach across the hospital.
* Help design staff communication tools to increase awareness of relevant performance measures & results

Data Validation
* Perform data validations as required to meet JCI requirements. Follow-up on findings and prepare validation reports

Quality Improvement (QI) activities
* Help embed the existing QI process and track progress of QI projects
* Help coordinate the delivery of QI Staff training, gather feedback, assessments, etc

Data collection, analysis and reporting
* Collect, input & analyse quality data, which feed into monthly & quarterly Management reports, and for other monitoring purposes
* Use data collected along with the software and problem solving tools available to help carry out root cause analysis and problem solving
* Analyse and perform suitable trending on the data collected which shall be used to communicate the positive developments and areas for improvement to relevant staff
* Manage Quality databases
* Develop & improve data collection methods as required
* Provide support to non-Quality staff in data management, analysis and reporting

Audits, Reviews and Actions
* Prepare and assist in auditing activities
* Gather further information of adverse events to aid in their review
* Follow-up on actions from agreed Action plans (Investigations, JCI actions, FMEAs, audit findings, etc) and meeting minutes, and pursue until completion


JCI Accreditation
* Participate in the Hospitals JCI Accreditation programme.
* Identify improvement opportunities and promote ways of implementing those.
* Assist in Survey preparation
* Develop and implement various communication methods to educate staff on JCI standards and accreditation

Confidentiality
* The postholder must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients and staff in accordance with Hospital policy.


Requirements:

- Previous experience in the workplace
Experience in a Healthcare environment in the Quality systems or IT area.

Organisational Knowledge Good Knowledge of the SVPH organisation.

Good knowledge of hospital JCI standards and/or HIQA standards.
Good understanding of the principles of Quality management and healthcare standards

Core Competencies
Information Technology Skills -
Very proficient and competent in IT and data management, especially performance measure design, data analysis & presentation of data and results
Communication Skills:-
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Can demonstrate ability to effectively educate and mentor others
Very good report writing skills with ability to emphasise the important in a clear & concise manner.

Analytical/ Problem solving skills: - Excellent capability to ensure accurate attention to detail and consistent adherence to procedures and standards.
Willing to be held accountable for the accurate data collection, input & manipulation. Knowledge of problem solving tools & the use of data in problem solving

Teamwork:-
Have ability to build effective working relationships with others, co-operate with colleagues to achieve goals and is sensitive to, and anticipates their needs.

Conscientious and reliable
Information Technology Skills:
Proficiency in Access, Visio and Publishing
Data validation experience

Communication Skills: Has proven to positively interact & influence staff at all levels within an organisation.

Analytical/ Problem solving skills: -
Experience and knowledge in use of problem solving/ quality improvement tools and the use of data in problem solving.

Auditing experience preferable
